Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI Policy
JEIST recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools may be used as assistive technologies in research and academic writing.
Authors may use AI tools for activities such as language improvement, grammar checking, translation, brainstorming, formatting assistance, and other supportive purposes.
However, AI tools must not replace the intellectual responsibility of the authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, interpretation, and ethical aspects of their manuscripts.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
Authors should disclose substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation when such use goes beyond basic spelling, grammar, or language assistance.
AI-generated content must be carefully verified because AI systems may produce inaccurate, fabricated, or inappropriate information and references.
Editors and reviewers must also maintain confidentiality and should not upload unpublished manuscripts or confidential review materials into publicly accessible generative AI systems.
